Cricket Set To Be A Part Of 2028 Los Angeles Olympics On One Condition

Reports of cricket being a part of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles has been making rapid progress. The inclusion of the game of cricket is being seen as a possible new benchmark in the Olympics.
T20 Cricket was already a part of the 2022 Olympics with Australia winning gold beating India in the final India won the silver with while New Zealand won bronze after beating England by eight wickets.
Meanwhile, cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics can be hampered by one roadblock. As per reports in The Times, the organiser of the Olympics will allow cricket only if flag football, a non-contact version of American football, would also be added to the Games.

IOC President Thomas Bach Backing Cricket Inclusion In 2028 Olympics
IOC president Thomas Bach is reportedly a big fan of bringing cricket into the Olympics given the sport’s mass appeal, especially in Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It is expected that teams like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka can influence the addition of cricket to the Olympics.
Meanwhile, the number of games has seen a rapid rise in the Olympics as well. The 2016 Rio Olympics saw 38 sports events. The Tokyo Olympics saw the number of games being increased to 46 with the inclusion of 3×3 basketball, BMX, karate, rugby sevens, baseball, softball, skateboarding, surfing and speed climbing.
The Paris Olympics is expected to have 45 sports with the culling of baseball/softball and karate while breakdancing has been included for the first time. Cricket success in 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham is seen as a huge booster for the game to be included in the Loss Angeles Olympics. It was an eight-team tournament with Australia winning the gold medal beating India in the final.
