Before the conclusion of the group stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season, reports were claiming that MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management were not on the same page.
There were even reported that MS Dhoni could leave the franchise because of a possible rift with some of the officials of the team. As Dhoni did not play a single match in this season, because of injury concerns, the speculations over his future in the team continued.
However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, ruling out such reports, claims that they would love to keep the legendary keeper-batter intact with the franchise for the upcoming days as well. Vishwanathan claims that the franchise has attracted success as they have MS Dhoni on their side.
Will MS Dhoni leave Chennai Super Kings?
Kasi Viswanathan points out that they have a dedicated fan base that has driven them and motivated them to do well in the Indian Premier League. CSK is considered among the most successful teams in the league, despite their recent inconsistent performance, including their run in the IPL 2026.
The CSK CEO believes that they did nothing different compared to the other franchises of the league. For him, Dhoni is the main factor that makes the Chennai Super Kings different from the other franchises in the nation.

“I don't think we do anything differently from any other team. See, basically, what I would attribute to a fan base is because a man by the name Mr. MS Dhoni is the captain, and also he is the one who has driven CSK to such success,” the CEO of the franchise claims during the conversation with RevSportz.
“And the most important thing is that CSK as a franchise has been consistent in their performance. That is the most important thing. If you are consistent in performing to the cricketing public, they will always have a love for the team,” he added.
CSK CEO explains the team's poor form in recent times
Kasi Viswanathan reckoned that for the last couple of seasons, the team’s performance was not up to the mark. According to him, the team is currently going through a transition phase, which is common in the game. To make further progress in the league and to fetch more success again and again, the franchise will have to consider some changes in the future as well.
“And besides that, if you have a skipper of the calibre of MS, I think automatically there is a great fan following. We respect the fans. We know that we have not done well in the last couple of years, but that is bound to happen because there is always going to be a change, and over the period of time, we will also have to change and strive to continue to be as consistent as we were earlier,” the CSK CEO further mentioned.
