Chhattisgarh and Punjab Kings' (PBKS) all-rounder Shashank Singh emerged as one of the standout performers in the IPL 2024, attracting fans and cricket experts with his impressive batting performances despite his team's inconsistent performance this season.

The 32-year-old right-hander was a silver lining for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), showcasing his batting prowess by amassing 354 runs at an impressive average of 44 and a strike rate of near 165 in the IPL 2024.

Shashank's stellar performances have not only caught the attention of cricket fans but have also sparked speculation about his future in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. During the IPL 2024, there were speculations rife that if PBKS failed to retain Shashank, he could become one of the most sought-after players at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Many opined the PBKS batter could fetch a hefty price at the IPL mega auction this year, and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could be one of the teams to target the talented cricketer. Additionally, there have been murmurs suggesting that the five-time IPL champions, CSK, might be interested in acquiring the services of Shashank next season.

Actually, a viral video added fuel to the speculations, where the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was seen embracing Shashank after an IPL 2024 match, and even the duo had a warm chat, sparking discussions about his potential move to the CSK.

Now, Shashank has himself opened up about his interaction with Viswanathan during the IPL 2024. The fans are predicting his future with the CSK after his cheerful conversation with the team CEO, but the PBKS star denied having such talks with him.

Shashank Singh was quoted as saying by CricketNext: “Although I scroll social media but haven’t come across that particular video. I have heard that Kasi sir is extremely passionate. But honestly, I wanted to meet him. And who wouldn’t want to… he has made such great players, like Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni), Ambati Rayudu, all the legends.”

He added, “So, I just wanted to say hello and it’s good to know people of his stature. It was just a normal conversation, about the wicket, about the match, about my performances, about Chhattisgarh cricket and the talent in our state, rather than anything else. He was extremely happy, just like the way my father. I’m extremely grateful that now I can say I know him.”

Shashank Singh shares the experience of sharing the dressing room with Shikhar Dhawan

Shashank Singh also reflected on his experience of sharing the dressing room with the PBKS skipper and senior Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, saying their bond became stronger over time. The talented cricketer revealed that they had previously played together in the DY Patil tournament, where he even had the opportunity to captain the Gabbar.

He further noted that Dhawan's cheerful demeanor and unwavering support were a big help for him, providing him with mental strength, boosting his confidence, and backing his skills. Shashank said that Dhawan always believed in his abilities.

He showed great power-hitting by smashing 68* off 28 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) this season, and the batter revealed Dhawan was really happy for him and more than for him. The PBKS star also called Dhawan his elder brother.
