Former Indian captain and current Chennai Super Kings [CSK] skipper MS Dhoni has landed in Chennai to join the rest of the squad ahead of the second phase of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League in the UAE.

The second leg of the 14th IPL will take place between September 17-October 15 in the United Arab Emirates.

The first phase of the 14th season, which was held in India earlier this year, was suspended by the BCCI following multiple bio-bubble beaches.

With the IPL just over a month away, the Chennai Super Kings squad (minus the overseas players) have convened in Chennai where they are quarantining as per the SOP’s released by the BCCI.

CSK’s official Twitter handle revealed on Tuesday that the three-time IPL-winning skipper MS Dhoni has reached Chennai ahead of the squad’s departure to the Emirates nation.

“Lion Day Entry ? ?Anbuden Chennai. #ThalaDharisanam #WhistlePodu #Yellove ??”

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are aiming to land in the UAE on Friday (August 13) but the franchise owners are still awaiting the approval of the UAE government.

“We need approval from the UAE government to land there and that is something we are waiting for. Our crew is already in quarantine as per the SOP and everyone is ready. The BCCI is looking to get us the approval and we are hoping to get the green signal by tomorrow,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by ANI.

Chennai Super Kings will be looking to exorcise the demons of their last year’s visit to the UAE where they failed to make the playoffs for the first time in IPL history.

They were in the midst of a pretty good season- 5 wins in 7 matches- and will be looking to continue their form in the second phase.
