Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta made a shocking remark about Rishabh Pant joining a new franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Dasgupta suggested the possibility of Rishabh Pant joining CSK in IPL 2025, potentially replacing skipper MS Dhoni.
Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut with the Delhi Capitals in 2016, quickly establishing himself as a crucial player for the franchise in the cash-rich league. Unfortunately, Pant missed the entire last IPL season due to a near-fatal car accident in December of the previous year.
The Delhi-based franchise retained the 26-year-old for the upcoming edition of the tournament. The team, under Pant’s captaincy, failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2022. The southpaw has scored 2838 runs in 97 innings at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of 147.97.
MS Dhoni And Rishabh Pant Are Very Close – Deep Dasgupta
In a recent interview, Deep Dasgupta highlighted the close relationship between Dhoni and Pant, emphasizing their similar attacking and positive mindsets. He suggested that Pant’s mindset aligns with CSK’s ethos, making him a potential fit for the team in the future.
“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and whatnot,” Dasgupta said.

MS Dhoni has confirmed his return to action as one of CSK’s retained players for the next edition of the tournament. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter was last seen in action during the final of IPL 2023, leading the Chennai-based franchise to their fifth title victory.
