Fans on Twitter reacted after Chennai Super Kings got back to winning ways in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
Asked to bat, Chennai didn’t have a great start to their innings with Ajinkya Rahane (9) falling yet again in the powerplay. With the wicket falling early, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (98) and Daryl Mitchell (52) brought the team back on the track and put Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers under pressure.
The Gaikwad-Mitchell duo added 107 runs of the second wicket and set the platform for the big finish. Shivam Dube (39) in the end did what he does best and along with Gaikwad added 74 runs. Their valiant partnership powered the Chennai Super Kings to a total of 212/3.
It was a horrible start for the Sunrisers Hyderabad with the bat. Although Travis Head (13) and Abhishek Sharma (15) hit some blows but lost wickets inside the powerplay along with Anmolpreet Singh, who bagged a golden duck.
Aiden Markram (32) looked solid at the crease but couldn’t carry on the start that he got. However, after his wicket Chennai Super Kings bowlers were all over the batters and picked wickets at regular intervals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Heinrich Klaasen (20) and Abdul Samad (19) also couldn’t get going as the home team bundled out the opposition for 134 runs and won the game by 78 runs. This was their 5th win in the IPL 2024 as they bagged 10 points and entered the top 4 in the points table, claiming third spot.
