In a groundbreaking move, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has set a new example in the game by awarding multi-year contracts to its top men’s and women’s players for the first time in history for the 2024-25 season.

The historic contracts came on the back of a new four-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the board and the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) in January 2024.

This milestone contract has laid the foundation for a more secure and promising future for West Indies cricket for both men and women, ensuring that the board's players are given the backing they need to thrive both on and off the field.

Among the senior men's players, a total of 15 were awarded the board contracts, with six of them securing coveted multi-year deals based on their outstanding performances during the 2023-2024 season.

These players have proven themselves to be the backbone of the team, and the board has rewarded their consistency and dedication with long-term commitments.

On the other hand, 15 senior women’s players have also been given the central contract, with three standout players earning multi-year contracts.

This bold yet historic move by the board is seen as a significant step toward building a stronger and more competitive West Indies cricket team.

The board has shown its commitment to nurturing its brightest talents by offering multi-year contracts, ensuring that they remain focused on achieving greatness while representing the Caribbean on the global stage both in men’s and women’s cricket.
