The ‘Slap Gate’ controversy just gets another layer as Harbhajan Singh shares a cryptic Instagram post shortly after Santhakumaran Sreesanth’s controversial claims. The former Indian pacer claims that his former India teammate has earned a hefty amount of money from an ad that hints at the controversial episode between them.
Although Harbhajan Singh does not name anyone in his latest Instagram post, it is the timing of the post that forced cricket fans to link up with Sreesanth’s latest comments.
Harbhajan Singh shares a cryptic video
Harbhajan Singh shares a meaningful Hindi line, which means the empty vessels make the most of the noise. “Kisine bohot khub kaha hain ki karne do jo log bakwaas karte hain, humesha khali bartaan hi to awaaz karte hain (Someone has rightly said, let people talk nonsense, it is always the empty vessels that make noise),” Harbhajan Singh says this line in Shayari style.

What was the slap gate incident?
The infamous ‘Slap Gate’ incident took place after an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in 2008 when Singh used to play for the Mumbai Indians, and Sreesanth was with the Kings XI Punjab (now the Punjab Kings). The controversial episode was staged after the match, when the camera spotted the seamer in tears on the ground.
The spinner was alleged to have slapped S Sreesanth, for which he served a suspension for the remainder of the season. Later, he made an apology for the action he took against the opposing team's bowler.
It has been almost 18 years since the incident took place. As it says, time heals the pain; both of the cricketers seem to have long left the controversial chapter behind. In multiple instances, Harbhajan Singh expressed regret for the incident, while S Sreesanth also kept himself calm over the years.
Sreesanth's open challenge to Harbhajan for a boxing match
But the recent comments suggest that Sreesanth is yet to recover from the incident. While referring to an old promotional image of the pair wearing boxing gloves, Sreesanth issues an open challenge to Harbhajan for an actual in-ring boxing match with gloves on. The former pace bowler also mentions that he was serious about the open challenge.
“This same scene, do you have the guts? Do you have the guts to come into the ring with me? Can you sign and come? Wearing these same gloves? This is not acting. I am smiling. You are not even smiling. I don't know what you are doing. Let's see. This is an open challenge,” S Sreesanth says during his latest appearance on Lallantop.
Sreesanth further mentions in the discussion that he remained silent for years over the slap gate incident, but the advertisement featuring his former teammate sparked the fire inside him again. According to him, from that ad, Harbhajan earned around INR 80 lakhs to INR 1 crore.
The former fast bowler also informs that since he watched the advertisement, he cut off all connections with Harbhajan, lost all respect for him, and blocked him on Instagram as well.
