Lance Klusener was picked as the costliest ever player in IPL auctions by Legendary pacer Dale Steyn

Dale Steyn is currently in India, as he is part of the Star Sports Commentator unit assigned for the India vs South Africa T20I series. During his recent appearance on Star Sports, the former speedster answered several interesting queries.

In a video shared by Star Sports, Steyn was asked who, according to him, could have been the costliest pick in IPL auction history had he been placed into the auction drafts. Steyn immediately named former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener as the most expensive buy if he had played the IPL.

"Lance Klusener, maybe," Dale Steyn had said. Klusener was one of the most explosive batsmen the world of cricket had witnessed at a time when striking the ball with such brutality was a rare sight. Having played 220 games across Tests and ODIs for the Proteas, he amassed 5482 runs and also picked 282 scalps in his career.

Klusener has played 53 T20s in his career, but never featured in T20I cricket. Steyn claims that he could have established himself as the most fearsome all-rounder of the generation.

Dale Steyn picks former Indian coach as the face of IPL

The rapid-fire round continued with Steyn, and he, too, gave quirky answers to keep the host intrigued for more action. The South African legend was asked which retired Indian legend could have been the face of any IPL franchise.

In response to that, Dale Steyn immediately said, "Ravi Shastri. I love Ravi."

Shastri's name would not have been a shocker for many, as the Indian Men's National Team had also flourished in all formats under his leadership during his coaching stint between 2017-2021.

Moreover, he was among the most dynamic players during his playing days and is often considered the most charismatic commentator going around in the history of cricket.

Lance Klusener stands as LSG's assistant coach in IPL

The former South African great named by Dale Steyn might not have had the fortune to feature in the IPL, as he had retired from the sport before the inauguration of the league, but he made it to the IPL as a coach.

The 54-year-old currently features in the Lucknow Super Giants camp as one of the assistant coaches for the franchise. The LSG team consists of immense firepower in the form of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant and also in youngsters like Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad.

Working closely with a talent like Kulsener will help them improve their aggressive gameplay.
