A dramatic incident unfolded during the Big Bash League 2024-25 (BBL 2024-25) match between the Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium in Perth on January 3, when Australian cricketers Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft collided on the field.

The nasty collision happened in the 16th over of the Perth Scorchers' innings as both Sydney Thunder players sprinted towards a high ball hit over mid-wicket by Cooper Connolly in Perth. Neither noticed the other’s approach, leading to a head-on crash that left both cricketers sprawled on the ground. They were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
