Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria was impressed with the way, Deepak Chahar took India home in the second ODI against Sri Lanka and wanted Pakistan to learn from him. The medium-pacer had the reputation of handy lower-order batsmen in the past, but this was more than that as Chahar formed a terrific unbeaten 84 partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the eighth wicket.

Sri Lanka had the game in their gasps for most of the time but their recent consistent run of losses didn’t help their cause and they managed to find a way to lose even from a winning position. However, it was some quality innings from Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar played a good hand too.

Danish Kaneria Heaps Praise On Chahar and Bhuvneshwar

Danish Kaneria suggested Pakistan batsmen learn from Chahar’s innings and he explained how Chahar took the game deep by bringing the doubles into play in the long boundaries and also getting the rewards with some odd boundaries to ease the required run rate pressure. He was also impressed with Bhuveshwar Kumar’s mature knock and mentioned the 19 not out was like a half-century.

“Full credit to Deepak Chahar. Pakistan’s batsmen should learn from him. Deepak Chahar took the game till the very end. He stood at the wicket, rotated the strike smartly and picked up a the odd boundary here and there. Chahar had that key partnership with Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the end. Although Kumar only scored 19, it was as good as a 50 on the day.” Danish Kaneria told on his Youtube Channel

Danish Kaneria Expects India To Make Some Changes For The Final Game

Danish Kaneria portrayed the day to be Deepak Chahar’s with the bat and the ball and was excited about the fact that there will be a lot more youngsters playing in the next game for India as the series is done and dusted already. He compared Chahar’s innings to Dhoni’s philosophy of taking it deep and hailed the performance.

“Thanks to Chahar and Kumar, India won the series and now we could see some changes in the final ODI. But today (Tuesday) was Chahar’s day. He first claimed two wickets and then batted very sensibly. He did not play any unnecessary shots and applied MS Dhoni’s philosophy of taking the game till the end if wickets fall. It was an outstanding performance by India.” he added
