David Warner's drink-and-drive incident has led to a massive controversy

Australian legendary cricketer David Warner was recently caught for drunk driving during Easter Sunday celebrations in Australia. According to the reports, Warner was stopped at a roadside breath testing unit in Maroubra in Sydney's eastern suburbs as he was heading back home.

The Police reported that he was driving a van that stopped and was parked short of the testing site, which had prompted the officers to approach the star cricketer's vehicle. This incident probably happened as he was returning from a party at his friend's place.

This incident occurred amid the great Australian leading the PSL franchise Karachi Kings. Warner went to Pakistan following a dream season for the Sydney Thunder, where he amassed 433 runs across 8 innings, averaging an impressive 86.60 and striking at nearly 154.09. He also scored two centuries and two half-centuries in the competition.

Warner admitted to consuming wine during the police investigation

The reports have claimed that during questioning, Warner allegedly revealed that he had consumed "three glasses of wine" at a friend's house before attempting to drive back to his residence in Maroubra.

The 39-year-old was then arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station for further testing, where he allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading that was double the legal limit. He recorded a reading of 0.104.

This incident occurred while he was an active cricketer in several franchise cricket leagues except for the IPL. He has also taken up several new roles as a commentator with Fox Cricket. He has been charged with a mid-range drink-driving offence and is supposed to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on the 7th of May. The PSL will conclude with the final scheduled on the 3rd of May.

David Warner's current form in the PSL

David Warner produced one of the best seasons in his debut season for the Karachi Kings in PSL 2025. The Australian former opener amassed 368 runs across 11 matches and struck at a stunning strike rate of 153.97.

Having scored runs at an average of 33.45, he scored three half-centuries in the competition and led the Karachi Kings to the playoffs of the 2025 season. However, following a defeat against the champions Lahore Qalandars, they were knocked out of the tournament.

The 39-year-old has led in this edition of the PSL as well, and under his captaincy, the Karachi Kings have made a promising start, winning all their initial matches. He has managed to score 93 runs across 3 games, including a half-century in their last game on the 2nd of April.
