Things are getting tough for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in the context of the playoffs. After having a fantastic first half of the tournament, where they were at the top, the Axar Patel-led side are now struggling to get going to make it into the top four of the tournament.

Things got tougher for Delhi Capitals (DC) after they faced a thrashing at the hands of Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 60th game of the tournament took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (18th May).

Gujarat Titans thrash Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets

Gujarat Titans qualified for the playoffs of the IPL 2025 as they thrashed Delhi Capitals by ten wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Not only them, their win also saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings qualify for the playoffs as well.

Asked to bat, Delhi Capitals didn't have a great outing with the bat as they lost Faf du Plessis for just five runs. However, after that, KL Rahul (112*) and Abishek Porel (30) brought their team back in the game with their 90-run stand for the second wicket.

KL Rahul carried his bat through and slammed a magnificent century. Skipper Axar Patel (25) and Tristan Stubbs (21*) supported him well as Delhi Capitals posted a total of 199 for three.

Chasing the target, the duo of Sai Sudharsan (108*) and Shubman Gill (93*) made a mockery of the Delhi Capitals bowlers. While the left-hander slammed his second ton in the league, Gill hit a glorious century as Gujarat Titans chased the target with ten wickets.

After the loss against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals retained their 5th spot on the points table. But they are in a spot of bother now, as their road to qualification is very tough, but in their own hands now.

Delhi Capitals (DC) are placed 5th on the points table with 13 points to their name from 12 games. The Axar Patel-led side has won 6 games and now need to up their ante. They are still very much in contention for the playoffs, and their fate will be decided after their two games.

To qualify, Delhi Capitals (DC) need to win both their remaining games as it will take them to 17 points, at which RCB and PBKS qualified. But things will be out of their hands if they lose one of their remaining two games in the IPL 2025.

If they win one game, they will get to 15 points, which won't be enough as Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are also in contention. They can qualify at 15 points but they need both the above mentioned teams to lose their games.

However, if they lose both their games, they will be eliminated.

Next two matches of the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals (DC) will be next seen in action when they take on Mumbai Indians on 21st May at Wankhede Stadium. After that, they end their league stage with the match against Punjab Kings on 24th May at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
