The way Nicholas Pooran was batting against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday (May 14), they needed something special to get rid of him and Axar Patel did exactly that.
The DC allrounder came up with a brilliant catch to dismiss the Lucknow Super Giants star to put his team in the diver's seat. Chasing 209, LSG were in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 44 for 4 and then 71 for 5. However, Nicholas Pooran revived their hopes by smashing a 20-ball fifty.
The West Indies star was waging a lone battle for LSG against DC. However, before he could bat his team to a strong position, Axar Patel's fine catch ended his stay at the crease. On the first ball of the 12th over, Mukesh Kumar bowled a short delivery well outside the off stump.
The ball was there to be hit and Nicholas Pooran did not hesitate. He made a good connection as he hit the ball towards the covers. The ball was looking set to fly past Axar Patel. However, the all-rounder had other ideas as he dived towards his right to take a brilliant catch. Pooran departed after scoring 61 runs off 27 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes.

Talking about the game, DC were on 156 for 7 in the 17th over at the time of writing this report. Arshad Khan and Yudhvir Singh Charak were fighting it out for LSG in the middle.
Earlier in the game, half-centuries from Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs powered DC to a big total of 208 for 7 in 20 overs in the must-win clash. Porel scored 58 off 33 balls while Stubbs remained unbeaten on 57 off 25 balls.
"It was quite tough when I walked in. I could not get myself on some intensity, but once I got going it started to flow. I always feel like I can give myself a bit of time and then catch up. You never know on this ground, but it is stopping a bit and hopefully it is enough. Just playing in front of so many people is incredible," said Stubbs after the knock.
