DC vs RR: Revealed - Who are the impact players nominated by DC and RR for match 56 of IPL 2024

The Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) clash is in the fray in the 56th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). The game between the Rishabh Pant-led side and the Sanju Samson-led side is being hosted by Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, May 7.

Heading into the match, Rajasthan Royals are comfortably positioned at the No.2 spot on the Indian Premier League 2024 points table with their playoffs spot sealed. They have won 8 out of 10 matches in IPL 2024 and have a Net Run Rate of 0.622.

Unlike RR, Delhi Capitals have a lot of work to do if they want to finish in the top 4 this time around. Currently, they occupy the sixth spot on the table with 10 points in 11 matches. They need to win the remainder of the matches to reach 16 points and guarantee a playoffs spot. The qualification is also possible with 14 points, but a lot of other factors need to fall in place for DC, hence, they would be focusing on the simplest route, which is to win the rest of the matches.

Meanwhile, both DC and RR are heading into the clash on the back of a defeat in the previous match. Delhi Capitals faced a crushing defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders as their batters failed miserably and could only manage to take the team to a total of 153/9.

Defending the total, the bowlers couldn't do much and had to face an assault from Phil Salt in the beginning, and then Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer finished off the match.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, didn't face a hammering, instead, they lost a last-ball thriller against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 1 run. While chasing 202, they were off to a horrible start as they lost Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson for a duck.

However, youngsters Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal staged a comeback to take the team close to the win. The onus was on the likes of Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, and Dhruv Jurel to finish the match, but they failed to do so. In the last over just 13 runs were required to win and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an epic over to restrict RR to 200/7.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. Sanju Samson at the toss revealed that they have made two changes to the playing XI. Samson stated:

"We would like to bowl first, looks a good a wicket to chase on. We are comfortable doing both. The environment in the team is what pleases me, we have great characters, of course winning helps. Dhruv and Hetmyer are unavailable. Dubey and Donovan are in."

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant further talked about the changes to his team. He said:

"Pitches this season are more batting friendly. Some injuries, health issues are there in the team but we don't focus on those things and we got to focus on the team and do our best. Ishant and Gulbadin come in."
