Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has offered the premises of the Arun Jaitley Stadium to be used as Covid-19 vaccination centre, the president of the association Rohan Jaitley.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium was one of the six grounds that was used during the 14th season of the Indian Premier League.

But with the tournament getting postponed for an indefinite period of time due to multiple Covid positive cases, the state association president Rohan Jaitley has written to the Delhi government to offer the stadium to be used as a vaccination centre.

“I had written that if they feel that they require a centre for vaccination, the DDCA premises can be used till Normalcy returns,” Rohan Jaitley told PTI on Saturday.

While 470 centres are being used to vaccinate healthcare workers, frontline staff and those aged above 45, 394 centres are being used for the beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group.

A total of 41.64 lake vaccine doses were administered to beneficiaries across all age brackets in Delhi till Wednesday morning since the vaccination drive started on January 16.

Delhi has thus far received 8.17 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines for the 18-44 years age bracket and over 43 lakh doses for 45-plus, healthcare and frontline workers.

“In our stadium premises we have facility where 10,000 people can be vaccinated per day. If they want, till the time there is some semblance of normalcy, they can use it till cricketing activity resumes,” said Rohan Jaitley, DDCA President.
