Indian batsman Karun Nair is desperate to revive his cricket career. The right-handed batsman has not had many chances since becoming the country’s second batsman to score a triple century in Test cricket, the only other Indian batsman other than Virender Sehwag to do so. Nair shared an emotional message on social media that he wants to come back to the team.

Karun Nair made his international debut against England at Mohali in 2016. He scored 303 runs with 32 fours and four sixes in the fifth Test of the series, which India won by an innings and 75 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, he was dropped for the next Test match as Ajinkya Rahane recovered from injury. He could not continue scoring runs at the same level, scoring 374 runs in 6 Tests.

Dear Cricket, Give Me One More Chance – Karun Nair

The 31-year-old became the quickest batsman in Test cricket history to score a maiden triple century in terms of matches played. However, that was his only memorable performance; he played his final Test in March 2017 and his final ODI in June 2016. He returned to the test squad in 2018 before being mysteriously dropped.

He later stated that the team management had given him no explanation as to why he was not given another chance to play for India. Nair continued to be an integral part of the Karnataka team in domestic cricket.

Karun Nair pleaded with the cricket fraternity on Twitter to give him another chance. “Dear cricket, give me one more chance”, he tweeted.

Nair’s tweet came on a day when the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) selected their Ranji Trophy squad for the matches against Services and Pondicherry. Earlier, he was not selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Now he has been dropped from the state team for the first two Ranji Trophy matches.

Nair scored 5922 runs in 85 FC matches at an average of 48.94, including 15 centuries with a high score of 328. He has also scored 2119 runs in 90 List-A matches, including two hundreds, and 2989 runs in 150 T20 matches with two centuries at a strike rate of 131.15.
