Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 has started making headlines. This Test Series is going to be played in India after a span of 6 years and the mighty Aussies would be eager to win the series. Australia had lost both of their home series against India which raised a lot of question marks over their preparation.
The Men in Blue would be hoping to continue the winning run as this Test Series would most likely determine the finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC 2023). This Test Series would be defining for the Head Coach Rahul Dravid and Skipper Rohit Sharma as they would be tested.
Delhi All Set To Host Test Match
A BCCI official was having an interaction with PTI and was asked about the Test Matches. “Delhi is likely to host the second of the four Test matches as of now. The dates will be out as and when the Tours and Fixtures committee hold its meeting. Dharamsala, which hosted its first and only Test almost six years back, against Australia in March, 2017, will probably host the third Test.” said the BCCI official.
Stern Test for Australia
Australian Cricket Team hasn’t won a Test Series in India since 2004. The Aussies are seen struggling in Indian conditions and it won’t be wrong to say that they haven’t been able to handle the spin which has been their biggest weakness. In the 2017 Test Series, the Aussies showed great character but it was their batting that let them down under the leadership of skipper Steven Smith who had smashed 3 centuries in 4 matches.
All eyes would be on David Warner who has hinted that he would retire from test Cricket after the conclusion of Ashes 2023. The left-handed batter would be eyeing to end the drought of 19 years. He though doesn’t have encouraging stats in India where he has played 8 test matches and scored 388 runs with an average of 24.25. Former skipper Steven Smith’s role would be quite pivotal as he knows how to stick to the crease and play long and effective innings.
