Abishek Porel was accused of cohabitation on the promise of marriage. However, the cricketer denied the allegation, and now the Calcutta High Court has ordered the police to detain the Bengal & Delhi Capitals cricketer and seize his electronic devices on possible rape charges against him.
Last month, when he was accused of cohabitation on the promise of marriage, he denied all the allegations, calling them fake. A complaint was lodged against him at Magra Police Station in Hooghly district. He is a resident of Chandanagar.
What charges are filed against Abishek Porel?
Now, he has been charged under Mogra PS FIR No. 346/2026, which involves non-bailable BNS charges including rape and criminal assault. The court ordered the police to take the complainant's personal devices in order to preserve his privacy and prevent the spreading of offensive information. The next hearing is scheduled on August 11.

The statement by the court said, "The petitioner submits that although a criminal prosecution has been initiated, being Mogra Police Station Case No. 346 of 2026 under Sections 64(1), 66, 69, 74, 75(2), 79, 115(2), 117(2), 124, 127(2), 109(1), 308(2), 351(2), 351(3), 316(2), 318(3), 61(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, read with Sections 66E and 72 of the Information Technology Act, against Respondent Nos. 6 and 7, further investigative steps are required."
"Further steps are required to be taken by the concerned police authorities to seize electronic devices lying with the accused persons containing obscene photographs of the petitioner in order to protect dignity and privacy of the petitioner."

Previously, Abishek Porel was charged by a woman that she and Porel had been in a relationship for the last three years, and they had problems in the relationship last year when the cricketer started maintaining distance from the unnamed woman. She also accused the batter that they had sexual relations, and this was done on the promise of marrying her.
After the allegations, "We have received a complaint and started an investigation," a police official told PTI. Later, Abishek Porel stated that these allegations came after he started playing well, and he asked the police to investigate the matter.
"I am playing well now, so various things are coming up," Porel was quoted as saying by PTI. "I will talk about this when the police investigate. I have not spoken to the police yet," he said.
Abishek Porel's career in danger?
If Porel is found to be guilty, he would have a tough career ahead as the DC batter has been with the franchise and played some games in the IPL 2026 as well. The legal procedures and findings will chalk out the route of his future in the field.
Previously, Yash Dayal was also charged with rape allegations, and he was removed from the RCB side and did not play in the IPL 2026.
