RCB bowlers have pulled off a breathtaking powerplay as they have dismissed six of the DC batters with fewer than 10 runs on the board in the clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The Royal Challengers started with their new ball bowling pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, who, to no one's surprise, once again bowled perfectly in the powerplay, way too economically, and picked wickets in almost every over they bowled.
RCB bowlers script history with 6 wickets against DC
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru had left nothing much for the Delhi Capitals in the game, as they bowled perfectly with the new ball. Bhuvi threatened the outside edges of the bat with his swing, while Josh Hazlewood has been hitting the hard length against the DC batters.
Together, they gave away just 13 runs in the first six overs and picked 6 wickets between them, which included almost every big name in that DC batting unit. This is a record in itself, as for the first time in the history of the game, a team has lost six wickets with less than 10 runs on the board.
Craziest powerplay ever in the history of the IPL witnessed, as RCB restricted DC to lowest ever powerplay score
The IPL has been one of the oldest franchise leagues in the world and has been played for over 19 seasons, spanning over three decades in the history of cricket. However, nothing like this has ever been witnessed in the history of the game.
RCB bowled a stunning power play, dismissing the entire DC batting order for just 13 runs within the power play. This is now the lowest ever score in the history of the IPL in the first six overs of the game.
Both the Royal Challengers' pacers, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, picked three wickets each, and only one of the DC batters could walk past the score of 1 from among the first eight batters who arrived at the crease to bat in the powerplay.
DC enter unwanted list of teams with humiliating record in IPL history
The Delhi Capitals have now entered another humiliating list where they catch up with franchises like the Rajasthan Royals and the former franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The record is of losing five or more wickets with fewer than 10 runs on the board.
Kochi Tuskers were the first to have this humiliating record back in 2011, the only season they played in, when they were reduced to 8/6. Rajasthan Royals entered the tally with their humiliating show against SRH in this season of the IPL, when five batters were dismissed with just 9 runs on the board.
DC has now lost six wickets and become the first team to reach the shameful mark. However, despite their struggles, they have gone past RCB's former lowest score of 49 in the IPL. They are now looking to go past their lowest-ever IPL score of 66.
