For the fifth consecutive year, Delhi Capitals (DC) failed to run cut short before they could reach the play-offs. The last time they were close to claiming the trophy was in 2021. Since then, the achieved nothing significant to relish about.
With 7 wins and 7 defeats in 14 matches, DC finished their IPL 2026 ranked sixth in the points table. For the play-offs qualification, they at least needed to secure 16 points, but they had 14, short by a couple of points.
Delhi Capitals players caught in surprise
In this season, Delhi Capitals staged multiple thrilling encounters and closely fought matches. On April 8, 2026, they lost two crucial points to the Gujarat Titans by only 1-run margin. That little margin of error became the major roadblock in the rest of their journey in the campaign. Ahead of the next season, they have no option but to invent new ways that could finally guide them to the winner’s podium.
The franchise has shared an interesting video on its social media platforms. The video shows all of their players entering the dressing room, one by one. There is an object inside the dressing room which is covered with a piece of white cloth.
Something scary this is: Karun Nair
“Sometimes the best conversations are the ones you have with yourself. A season of highs, learnings, and self-reflection, straight from our Tigers’ hearts,” the caption of the video post reads.
The players were asked to act according to the instructions given. The instruction reads, “There is a photo of your teammate behind the frame, and you have to describe how their season went and what they learned.”
Delhi Capitals Players had no clue what was behind the cloth until they removed it. Naturally, all of the players were nervous and a little bit scared as well. It would not be easy to explain anything negative about any of the teammates.
It was David Miller who first realized that it was his photo behind the cover. Actually, it was a mirror. The setup was to help the players do self-scrutiny. And it seemingly works as the players themselves expressed how they performed in the IPL 2026 season.

Notable reactions among the players
Axar Patel, the skipper of the Delhi Capitals, realizes that they felt short by a margin. Especially in the first half of the tournament, they dropped multiple points.
“The way I thought, the first half of the tournament didn't go that way. But it's part of the game,” the DC skipper said.
KL Rahul, who scored 593 runs in 14 matches, is happy with his happy with his happy with his individual performance, but it makes him distressed as the batter experienced another season without the IPL silverware.
“I'm happy with what I've been able to achieve personally this season. One more season goes by without qualifying or giving myself or my team the opportunity to win that championship. Bittersweet feeling,” he said.
