Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) has confirmed that it will depart for the UAE on August 21, Saturday. The second leg of the IPL 2021 is scheduled to start on September 19 and go on till October 15.

DC will be the third team to enter the venue after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, who have already landed in the UAE. They will quarantine for a week before training camps resume their business.

The team currently sits at the top of the table, having picked up 12 points from eight games. They looked the best in the league until the covid-19 outbreak forced the postponement of the league.

Delhi Capitals will leave on Saturday early morning to UAE for IPL 2021. The team will leave from Delhi with domestic players and officials.

Domestic players are already in quarantine in the national capital and they will be quarantined in UAE for a week. Post quarantine, their camp will be starting,” a DC official was quoted as saying to ANI.

Decision on captaincy yet to be taken by Delhi Capitals

The biggest decision for the team will be deciding on who takes the reins once the season resumes. Shreyas Iyer is set to return to the squad and he is already in the UAE with the fitness coach. The rest of the team will join him once they finish their international assignments.

However, in his absence, 23-year-old Rishabh Pant led the team to six wins out of eight matches. Both are seen as potential captains for the future so the decision will be a tough one for the team management.

Shreyas Iyer is already in UAE with a fitness coach and the rest of the players from India, South Africa, and England will join the team after their international assignments are over.

The captain issue is still undecided, either it will be [Rishabh] Pant or [Shreyas] Iyer, the team management has not yet decided on this,” the DC official further stated.

The Delhi Capitals will continue the quest for their maiden IPL trophy when the season resumes, with their first match scheduled on September 22 with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
