Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag enjoyed the fearlessness shown by the young Indian women’s cricketer Shafali Verma in the ongoing test against England. Shafali Verma missed out on a deserving century in the first innings by just 4 runs and she has brought up her second half-century in the second innings.

She remains unbeaten on 55 at stumps on day 3 and is the youngest women’s cricketer to score half-centuries in both innings on test debut. She has scored 11 boundaries so far in her brave knock and the Indian opener has been the best batsman for her side so far in the test. India will be looking forward to her serving the nation for a long time.

Virender Sehwag Enjoys Watching Shafali Verma

Virender Sehwag was one of the dashing openers of his era where he never took a step back and tormented the bowling attacks from the start. He was very delighted to see the young 17-year-old Shafali Verma playing a lot of shots and he took it to Twitter to describe his gladness over watching her bat. It would have certainly made him remember his own batting style which was very aggressive.

India Woman Collapse After A Bright Start

After England posted 396 for the loss of 9 wickets in their first innings, India started off really well in their first innings with no loss until the score of 167 for the first wicket. After Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for 78, the batting order collapsed as Indian women got bundled out for 231 on the third day.

India was sent in to bat again by England, and now the onus will be on youngster Shafali Verma to take India to a respectable position with the early loss of Smriti Mandhana.

India women have lost 1 wicket for the score of 83 on the board and are trailing by 82 runs at the end of the third day’s play.
