The India National Cricket Team is playing the second Test match against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (SSC) in Colombo. After taking a 0-1 lead in the series, the team started the second game with much confidence. During Day 1 of the 2nd match, Devdutt Padikkal yet again scored a hundred.
Devdutt Padikkal has been in sensational form since the Ranji Trophy and carried the same form into the Indian Premier League (IPL). He got a recall to the Test squad for this series; however, in a turn of events, he was lucky to have featured in the first game, with Sai Sudharsan being ruled out of the series as he confirmed his place at No.3.

In the second Test match, yet again Padikkal showed his class and why he should be backed in the long run for the No.3 position in the Test side. He scored yet another hundred, backing his 167-run innings in the first Test match. The Southpaw achieved a record after smashing the hundred on Sunday.
Padikkal on Sunday became only the second No. 3 batter to score multiple centuries in a series in World Test Championship history, behind Joe Root. Padikkal notched 167 in Galle and followed it up with another three-figure score at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. He scored his ton in 168 balls and looked in fine touch.

The Karnataka batter, after scoring a hundred in the first Test he ended a long drought of 19 Tests without a century from a specialist No.3 Indian batter. In the first Test, he played a knock of 167 runs, and thanks to his knock, India won the match comfortably by 165 runs on Day 5. In the second innings, he scored 44 runs and won the Player of the Match.
During the second Test match, he came in a similar kind of situation, where India had got off to a decent start. He started to anchor the innings and built a strong 120-run partnership with team India skipper Shubman Gill. The Southpaw was dismissed, putting India in an advantageous situation, as he scored 117 runs off 193 balls, smashing 12 fours.
