Dewald Brevis is currently playing for the MI Cape Town side in the SA 20 2024. In their latest clash against Paarl Royals the Cape Town side lost the match by 59 runs.

Chasing 164 runs to win, The MI Cape Town side were bowled out for just 108 in less than 19 overs. Dewald Brevis was out for a first-ball duck as his side delivered a below-par performance with the bat.

Batting first the Parl Royals on the back of contributions from Jason Roy (69) and Jos Buttler (54) posted162/3. Skipper David Miller scored 24 off 20 balls before he was retired out.

Nuwan Thusara picked up two wickets and Thomas Kaber picked one. The MI bowlers could not pose problems to the Royala batters. Mumbai who on the reverse fixture between the two sides on January 19 badly faltered just a day later.

Ryan Rickelton who scored an unbeaten 94 in the first game was out for just five in the second game. As many as seven batters were dismissed for single-digit scores with Connor Esterhuizen top-scoring 32 from 26 balls.

For the Paarl Royals, Bjorn Fortuin took three wickets, and Lungi Ngidi, Obed Mcoy and Tabraiz Shamsi took two each. The Royals dominated their position at the top after this win against the Cape Town side.

The Royals are now topping the table with four wins in five games and 18 points in the bag. The Super Giants are placed third with 13 points followed by the Eastern Cape with 11 points. The Super Kings and the Pretoria Capitals have won just one match in the season so far.

Every team will play 10 league games with almost all the teams having played almost three to four games. The top four teams will make the playoffs and the top two teams will play the final on February 10. Qualifier 1 will be played on February 6, Qualifier 2 on February 8 and the final on February 10.

Meanwhile, Dewald Bravid interacted with a Pakistan cricket team fan at the venue after the match. Dewald Brevis named Babar Azam as his favorite player from Pakistan which was no surprise in the end.

 

Royals skipper David Miller after the win spoke at the post-match presentation about his calf injury first for which he retired hurt.

“Just got a little sock on it, we will have to see how it goes tomorrow. It’s the calf” indicating that it was a strain in his calf for which he had to go off the field.

“Very happy, great performance all around. We got off to a flier and it was great to see J Roy scoring some runs, back to his best, and then the bowlers finished it off. Being a day game we wanted to bat first and squeeze in a total on the board. T20 is difficult to be consistent all the way through, you get one or two losses. Today two guys contributed and in previous games we all contributed, the bowlers have done well throughout” said Miller on the overall win.
