Dewald Brevis goes unsold at IPL Auction 2025

Dewald Brevis has registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction at the base price of INR 75 lakh. The South African youngster is a right-handed batsman and is fondly called 'Baby AB' by the fans.

Although Brevis has been compared with the legendary AB de Villiers, he has not managed to live up to the expectations so far. He caught the attention of the cricketing world after taking the 2022 Under-19 World Cup by storm.

He broke the record for the most runs scored in a single edition of the Under-19 World Cup that was held by former India batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Brevis scored 506 runs in 6 games with the help of two centuries and three half-centuries.

After that impressive show, he earned his maiden IPL contract in the 2022 mega auction. Mumbai Indians secured his services for INR 3 crore but the youngster could not justify the hype surrounding him.

He played 7 games in IPL 2022 and scored 161 runs. He did not play any games in 2023 before playing 3 games in IPL 2024.
