Dhruv Jurel has made an impressive beginning to international cricket under Rohit Sharma. He has played two Test matches and two T20Is so far under Rohit''s captaincy and made an immediate impression.

He played a defining knock of 46 on his Test debut in Rajkot. In the second Test in Ranchi, he scored his highest Test score of 90 and gave an example of his patience and concentration.

He is slowly rising the ranks as an international cricket and has shown good promise, to begin with.

In his recent interview with Sports Tak, he spoke about Rohit Sharma as captain and playing under him. He called him a very chilled-out captain and gave a glimpse into how he interacts with youngsters in the team.

"To be honest, he is very chill. Jab tumse baat karenge toh aisa nahi lagta ki woh senior hai, tum junior ho. Humesha bahut casually baat karte hai," Jurel said.

Rohit Sharma Makes Youngsters Comfortable: Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel further said that Rohit bridges the seniority gap between juniors and seniors and goes out of his way to ensure that young players feel comfortable in the team.

"He always said, 'If you need any help just come over, I don't have any problem.' Aapko comfortable feel karana. Test cricket mein jab naam aaya tha tab captain Rohit bhaiya hi the toh unse baat kari. Bahut accha laga. Like sab normal hi hai," Jurel added.

Further in the interview, the young keeper-batter was asked about his closest friends within the Indian national team. He took the names of his Rajasthan Royals teammates, Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

"Riyan [Parag] and [Yashasvi] Jaiswal are closest friends among India cricket team players, they also play for RR," he said.

Dhruv Jurel was also asked about Virat Kohli and what kind of impression had had had on the young keeper-batter. He said that he is looking to learn how to dominate bowlers like Kohli does and that his aura as an international cricketer is what pushes him to get better at his job.

“I always try to learn because he is a legend of cricket. So whenever I talked to him, I only talked about cricket and when you around him, you feel that aura that Virat Kohli is there. So that is a good thing that we feel that we have to do something that we also feel that people have come to ask, that there is aura. Because he has played for like 15 years for India and he has always dominated. So that thing is very inspiring. So I will try to bring that thing in," said Jurel on Kohli.

Talking about Indian cricket team, they now have a different coach in the form of Gautam Gambhir who took over from Rahul Dravid who won the T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year in June as coach. Gambhir, on the other hand, has had a mixed start as head coach against Sri Lanka. India won the T20I series but lost the ODI series.

He will now foresee India's home season in Test cricket with India playing Bangladesh and New Zealand at home followed by a Test series against Australia as part of the WTC 2023-25 campaign.
