"Didn't think 'Travishek' would crash-land" - Aakash Chopra backs SRH to continue with aggressive approach

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra raised concerns about Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) recent struggles in IPL 2025. Chopra stated that losing three consecutive matches is a serious issue but added that the Pat Cummins-led team is unlikely to change their aggressive batting approach in the next game.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, April 6. SRH are currently at the bottom of the points table after losing three matches. Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill-led team are in third place with two wins from their first three games.
It Will Be Slightly Difficult to Come Out of That - Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra pointed out that losing two matches in a row can be managed. He added that it will be harder for Hyderabad to recover and bounce back after three losses.
"Hyderabad, what are you people doing? You have lost three matches on the bounce. A team can manage if they lose two matches, but if you lose three consecutive matches, you should realize that you are going down the drain, and it will be slightly difficult to come out of that," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered an 80-run defeat in their last match while chasing a 201-run target against Kolkata Knight Riders. Before that, they had suffered two consecutive losses—one against Lucknow Super Giants and the other against Delhi Capitals—while batting first.
Didn't Think 'Travishek' Would Crash-Land - Aakash Chopra
The cricketer-turned-commentator said that he didn't expect Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to fail. Chopra added that Hyderabad would continue with their attacking game plan, despite the current challenges.
"I didn't think this kind of batting lineup would be in such a situation. I didn't think Travishek (Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma), who were flying high, would crash-land. The biggest question is whether Hyderabad will change their playing style. I don't think they will change," Aakash Chopra added.
Travis Head scored a quickfire 67 off 31 balls against Rajasthan Royals. However, his form has dipped in the following matches, with scores of 47, 22, and just 4 in his next three innings. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma has managed only 33 runs in four innings, with his best score being 24.
Why Should You Change After Assembling Such a Team? - Aakash Chopra
The former Kolkata Knight Riders player argued that SRH’s batters should not alter their approach. He added that the team should have picked different players if they wanted a more conservative approach.
"To be fair, why should you change after assembling such a team? If you had to ask them to play easy, you should have bought someone else. When you bought such explosive batters, it won't work out if you expect them to play cautiously," Chopra reasoned.
The 2016 IPL champions have struggled to strike the right balance between aggression and over-aggression, with several key batters failing to perform in their last three matches. However, they will be hoping for a turnaround as they return to their home ground, a venue known for high-scoring games.
