Musheer Khan, brother of Sarfaraz Khan, starred with the bat to put Mumbai in the driver’s seat against Vidarbha in the ongoing Ranji Trophy final. In a team filled with star batters such as Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shreyas Iyer, 19-year-old Musheer Khan stole the show with his brilliant knock.

The right-handed batsman, who starred in the U-19 World Cup earlier this year, did not get a place in Mumbai’s original Ranji squad and was only added to the team after an injury ruled out Shivam Dube.

He celebrated his Ranji return by scoring a stunning double-century against Baroda in the quarterfinal. It was followed by a fine half-century against Tamil Nadu in the semifinal before he scored 136 in the second innings of the ongoing final. The youngster was out for just six runs in the first innings before making amends in the second.

Musheer Khan’s dream come true moment:

Musheer Khan showed remarkable patience during his knock, scoring 136 runs off 326 balls with the help of 10 fours. No other batter has managed to score a century in the game so far which speaks volumes about the knock.

Speaking after the knock, Musheer Khan revealed that he always dreamt about hitting a century in the Ranji final. His determination only increased when he saw his elder brother hitting one in the 2021/22 final against Madhya Pradesh.

“It was my dream to score a century in the Ranji Trophy final and my brother did it too last year. So when I saw him (score a century in the final), I wanted to do it too,” said Musheer Khan.

Sarfaraz had played a 134-run knock against Madhya Pradesh in the 2021/22 final. He had scored 45 runs in the second innings as well although his effort went in vain as Madhya Pradesh won the game by six wickets.

Speaking further, Musheer talked about his batting plan and also opened up on the special moment he shared with his father Naushad Khan who was in the stands.

Watch:

Talking about the ongoing game, Mumbai have set Vidarbha a huge target of 538 runs. Mumbai scored 418 runs in the second innings, thanks to Musheer’s century and half-centuries from Rahane (73), Iyer (95) and Shams Mulani (50).
