After winning their first-ever IPL trophy and ending the long drought, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to defend their title in the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on 28th March against Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground. Talking about the RCB team in an exclusive interview, the wicketkeeper-batter came out with a bold statement, saying that Dinesh Karthik could be seen as the next coach of the Indian team.

It will be quite interesting to see how the young team takes the legacy forward in the upcoming season. The 2025 season was a turning point for the franchise, and now the expectations are sky-high for the defending champions.

During a recent interview on The Ranveer Show, he made a shocking and bold statement regarding a former Indian cricketer. He said, "Dinesh Karthik can become the next Indian coach or the coach of any other big countries, such as England or Australia."

Why Dinesh Karthik is a Strong Candidate for International Coaching

Dinesh Karthik has been among the former Indian players who have been playing cricket for a long time. However, due to the unavailability of the wicket-keeping spot, he didn't get that many chances because of legendary captain MS Dhoni. But whenever the BCCI has shown faith in him in the absence of Dhoni, he performed brilliantly for the Indian team. Whether it was the final of the Nidahas Trophy, where he showed the world his match-finishing skills by hitting a six on the last ball against Bangladesh, or the high-pressure games he played for RCB in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, his experience has always been top-notch.

Due to his sheer knowledge of the game and batting skills, he was appointed as the batting coach for the RCB team last year. In that year only, he proved them right by helping them win their first-ever IPL trophy as a mentor and a batting coach. This victory ended the drought of 17 long years against the Punjab Kings in the night of the final at Narendra Modi Stadium by 6 runs. During the interview, Jitesh Sharma gave full credit for the 2025 season's success to Dinesh Karthik. He spoke about his improvement in the game and the way Karthik changed his approach as well as his mentality towards the game. Sharma said that Karthik has completely changed his perception about the game. He suggested that one should just keep believing in their skills and hard work, and things will start working in their favor.

Going further, Sharma said that in the upcoming years, we can see Karthik being the coach of an international team because he understands players well. He has a great calibre in him, and if India does not make him the coach in the upcoming years, another team like England or Australia can hire him for the head coach role. Sharma believes that DK’s tactical mind is what international teams need today.

Jitesh Sharma is all set to take the RCB 2025 legacy forward. He will be seen playing in the opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28th at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
