They lost to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 to complete yet another disappointing season in the end. Since their loss to KKR on April 21, they won six matches on the trot to make it to the Eliminator. However, yet again they crumbled under pressure situation losing the Eliminator to the Royals.

Dinesh Karthik, who for a long part of his career, played second fiddle to MS Dhoni found a new life to his international career. It was after his 2018 Nidahas Trophy final knock that he rose to the reputation of being India's next finisher after MS Dhoni. KKR roped him in the 2018 IPL auction and even made him the captain.

That led to his international return in 2019 as he was included in India's ODI World Cup squad. He played across both white-ball formats between 2019-2022 as a finisher and played some of his best cricket.

He played in T20Is more than ODIs and notched up his only half-century in the T20 format against South Africa in 2022. He retired from international cricket after playing in the T20 World Cup last year.

No Legends League Cricket For Dinesh Karthik

Now a cricket expert with Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik in a fun segment revealed whether he will play the Legengs League Cricket next year. Replying to a fan's question about who is willing to see him play in the tournament next season DK said "Nithilan I like your confidence but no I am not going to be playing Legends League for the moment but I have a surprise in place. I am going to be playing some cricket, I will tell you very very soon".

For now, Karthik is covering the India vs Sri Lanks series for Cricbuzz as an expert and he has been sharing his inputs about a few Indian players as well.

Karthik has been backing Sanju Samson to the hilt despite his two back-to-back failures against Sri Lanka. He has also backed Riyan Parag after his impressive outing with the bat in the last two games and with the bat in the final T20I.

DK also shared his thoughts on Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav as coach-captain duo The duo took over from Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma who led India to T20 World Cup glory in June.

He's a very good leader. I think he will bring two things to the Indian team. One is the fact that he's a complete player man. He protects his players, and that's very important in international cricket because, at times, you can feel lonely or deserted in international cricket when performances don't go your way. So, Gambhir is going to do that,” he said on Cricbuzz about Gautam Gambhir.

Speaking about DK's international career, Karthik played 26 Test matches, 94 ODI matches, and 60 T20I matches for Team India. He played his best for India in the T20I format and that too in the final leg of his career.
