The distrust between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises seems to be growing, especially after the former refused to share the fact-finding report with the franchise owners behind the postponement of the T20 competition earlier this year.

The 6th edition of the Pakistan Super League was postponed earlier this March following multiple Covid cases and lack of adherence to bio-bubble protocols.

On March 7th, infectious disease experts Dr.Syed Faisal Mahmood and Dr. Salma Muhammad Abbas were appointed as a two-member fact-finding panel, who were tasked with the responsibility of carrying out a detailed and holistic review of Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures laid by PCB for PSL 06 in order to identify any gaps and suggest reasons behind the bio-secure bubble not being Covid-free.

The panel recently submitted its report to PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani but the board did not share the same with the PSL franchises.

According to a report published in Cricket Pakistan, the board is concerned about the report being leaked to the media, and hence, they have asked the respective franchises to come to PCB headquarters in Lahore if they want to see the findings in the report.

According to sources, franchise owners are not happy with the development as they feel that it will further increase the distrust between various stakeholders of the event.

“We have come to know that franchises have been blamed in the report for the postponement of PSL. However, PCB is to blame for whatever happened.” one franchise official was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

According to the report, no franchise owner has visited PCB’s headquarters in Lahore to view the report.

“We have informed all the franchises that they can come to Gaddafi Stadium to view the report. Those who have not seen the report as of yet, the doors of Gaddafi Stadium are open for them.”PCB’s Director Media Samiul Hasan Burney was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the remainder of the sixth season of the Pakistan Super League between 1st-20th June at the National Stadium in Karachi.
