Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer, who has carved a niche for himself on social media via his witty memes, has made his debut on YouTube.
And, in his very first video, Jaffer has sent a coded message to the Indian batsmen ahead of the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton between June 18-22.
With the conditions in Southampton set to be seamer-friendly, Indian batters will be in for a stern test against the likes of Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson.
And, so, with a tough examination on the cards, Wasim Jaffer has urged the Indian batsmen to take inspiration from the police in Bollywood movies and do what they are famous for.
“I have been on tours to England twice with the Indian team. My coded message for the Indian batsmen is – Do what our police is famous for doing in old Bollywood movies. Use that while batting in the final,” said Wasim Jaffer in his YouTube video.
Wasim Jaffer’s reference to the police in Bollywood movies basically points to them arriving late on a crime scene.
And, so the former Indian opener, who played a stellar role in the 2007 Test series win in England, wants the Kohli-led batting unit to play the ball as late as possible.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will come into the World Test Championship final in red-hot form after having beaten England 1-0 in a two-match series.
India’s only series defeat during the WTC cycle also came against the Kiwis, as did the 2019 World Cup semi-final loss and the Virat Kohli-led unit will be eager to avenge those defeats by winning the inaugural Test Championship.
