Babar Azam has been compared with Virat Kohli ever since he started churning out runs consistently for Pakistan. The Indian star was already one of the biggest names in world cricket when Babar Azam made his debut in 2015.

And it did not take the Pakistan star long to announce his arrival at the highest stage of the game. Fast forward to 2023 and Babar Azam is also widely considered one of the best all-format players in the world along with Virat Kohli. Babar is currently leading Pakistan in all three formats of the game and has established himself as one of the best batsmen in the world.

While Babar Azam still has a long way to go, it has not stopped fans especially those from Pakistan to compare him with Virat Kohli who is widely considered one of the greatest batsmen of all time. The India superstar has already scored over 25000 runs in international cricket with the help of a staggering 76 centuries and 131 fifties.

Comparing Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s cover drives:

The fans not only compare Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s stats with the bat but also their cover drives. Time and again, one has seen fans taking to social media to trigger a debate over whose cover drive is better. Both Babar Azam and Virat Kohli have the ability to play lovely cover drives and receive praise from all over for their stroke play.

And recently, former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop was also asked about the duo’s cover drives. One of the most popular commentators in the world, Bishop has seen Kohli and Babar’s journey in the game from very close quarters. When asked to compare the cover drives of the two batting stars, Bishop told OneCricket:

“It’s a tie. If I have the option of both, I am going with both because I switch my television on and both are my favourites.”

Meanwhile, both Babar and Kohli will be up against each other soon in the upcoming Asia Cup as well as the World Cup. India and Pakistan will take on each other on September 2 in the Asia Cup and could play two more games against each other if they make it to the final.
