PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was thrilled with Pakistan Shaheens' comprehensive victory over India in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. He hailed the Pakistan team for having saved his face by defeating India on this occasion, after three straight losses in the Asia Cup.
The Pakistan team lost all three of their games against India in the Asia Cup 2025, which led to immense humiliation of the national team as well as left their board's chairman red-faced in front of the rival board, the BCCI.
Despite this, Mohsin Naqvi was further humiliated by the Indians when they refused to take the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from his hands. The Asian Cricket Council chairman was taken over by pride and fueled by humiliation, as he had not yet handed the title to the Indian team.
Mohsin Naqvi thrilled by Pakistan Shaheens' win over India A
The PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi heaped praise on Pakistan Shaheens for having earned a comprehensive victory over India A in the ongoing ACC Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship. Pakistan Shaheens earned a victory by 8 wickets over India A.
“What a proud moment for Pakistan and for the Board today! Our Pakistan Sheheens defeated India A by 8 wickets, chasing down the target in 13.2 runs. A dominant, fearless, and unforgettable performance in the Asia Cup Rising Stars Tournament in Doha. Superb cricket by our young guns; the future of Pakistan is shining bright. Congratulations to the nation!” read the statement from Mohsin Naqvi on X.
This marked Pakistan's first victory against India in any cricketing competition in a long time. Mohsin Naqvi, hence, seemed overjoyed by the result and called it a proud moment for Pakistan. The PCB Chief also dominated their fearless brand of cricket in Doha.
A brief highlight of the India A vs Pakistan Shaheens match in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament
India A continued their no handshake policy, which began with Team India refusing the same to the Pakistan National side during the Asia Cup 2025. Sent in to bat first, and a good start for them, India were dismissed for 136 without having played their 19 overs.
Pakistan Shaheens looked very promising since the start and wound up the chase just within 13.2 overs, with nearly 40 balls remaining. The credit also goes to the Indian fielders, who had dropped Pakistan's best batter on show, Maaz Sadaqat, on several occasions.
The opener continued his fearless stride and scored 79* unbeaten runs to claim an 8-wicket victory for the Pakistan Shaheens, the second in the Group B games, as they sealed the top spot from their group, surpassing India A.
Jitesh Sharma and co. would be citing the Super-4 match to avenge Pakistan
After the humiliating loss and a miserable collapse of the India A middle order, the Jitesh Sharma-led side would surely be eyeing the next game for a strong comeback. With several promising cricketers in the house, they will be hoping for an overturned result when they take on Pakistan Shaheens in the Super-4.
Some also claimed that the Asia Cup Rising Stars is a clear portrayal of IPL vs PSL talents and that PSL has the upper hand. Though the bowling deck looks nothing close to IPL standards, many batting stalwarts from the IPL have been picked.
Priyansh Arya, Jitesh Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Nehal Wadhera, and Naman Dhir are all undoubtedly promising men on show for India's future campaigns.
