Former India opener Virender Sehwag is often in the headlines for his brutal comments on the Bangladesh cricket team. After Bangladesh lost its second Super 8 game to India at Antigua, Sehwag took another dig at Bangladesh's underwhelming performance.

This was an important game for Bangladesh to keep their hopes of a semifinal alive. But the team just couldn't match the might of India and lost the match by 50 runs. With this defeat, their chances of making it to the semifinals have become quite slim. The margin of defeat in both their Super 8 games has made it a lot harder for them.

Virender Sehwag's brutal dig at Bangladesh

While speaking on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag sarcastically said that Bangladesh spoiled India's day by taking the match too far. He believes that India could've won the match a lot more quickly had Bangladesh batted first.

"They spoiled our day. It has been too long. If they would have batted first, they would have registered a similar total. India would have chased quickly and we would have gone home earlier. It's just Bangladesh after all, don't know why they hype them," Sehwag said.

The former India batter also lashed out at Bangladesh's star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan for failing yet again in an important game. A few days ago, Sehwag had also urged Shakib to retire from T20Is after he threw his wicket away.

"Today was the day for Shakib Al Hasan. He was playing against a big team. He had Shanto with him at the crease, so he should have supported him. He should have looked to stay there till the 15th or 16th over. He disappointed a lot because he has so much experience and he did not take advantage of it," Sehwag added.

India show their class against hapless Bangladesh

After putting India to bat first on a slow track, Bangladesh started poorly as the two Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli got off to a flying start. The duo added 39 runs in 3.4 overs when Rohit gave his wicket away to Shakib Al Hasan. India lost Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav in quick succession as fast bowler Tanzim Hasan raised Bangladesh's hopes.

But Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube stitched together a perfect partnership as India reached a mammoth 196-5 in 20 overs. Hardik scored 50* off 27 balls while Dube scored 34 off 24 balls. Both hit three sixes each in their innings.

In reply, Bangladesh's chase never got going. The openers started well but after Litton Das was dismissed, they struggled to keep up with the run rate. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scored an important 40 off 32 balls to give some respectability to the score.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly in the middle overs to pick up 3 wickets while fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets apiece. India will now play Australia in their final Super 8 clash on June 24 in St. Lucia.
