The Indian team emerged as the eventual Lords at Lord’s after defeating England in the 2nd Test by 151 runs. The match witnessed exciting twists of events with both the teams holding dominant positions at different situations of the match. KL Rahul, who was awarded player of the match for his spectacular ton in the 1st innings, mentioned that the on-field banter motivated the team to lead a strong attack against the England side.

The Test match observed many on-field banters among players of both teams. Notably, on Day 5, England players engaged with heated arguments with Jasprit Bumrah when the latter came out to bat, as he troubled pacer James Anderson with his deadly bounders in the first innings. One of the Bumrah’s bouncers also hit Anderson on the helmet.

If You Go After One Of Our Guys, All 11 Will Come Right Back: KL Rahul

After India’s thrilling win, KL Rahul said that the heated arguments pumped up the team while bowling. Against a target of 272, Indian bowlers crushed England to 120 all-out, showcasing an impeccable piece of bowling show.

“With two competitive teams you’re going to see a lot of heart and great skills and some words. We don’t mind a bit of banter, but if you go after one of our guys all eleven will come right back. That got us going, and the bowlers were really pumped to go out and have a crack,” KL Rahul said during a chat post the match.

Speaking about his hundred in the 1st innings, the right-handed batsman said that delighted that his knock helped the team to get a good total in the 1st innings.

“Really happy that the hundred could set up a victory for India. Put into bat, we had to go out and give the team a good start and put up a total. The opening partnership was really crucial,” KL Rahul further said.

KL Rahul had smashed 129 runs in the 1st innings, along with 126-run opening wicket-partnership with Rohit Sharma (83) and a 117-run stand with Virat Kohli, who scored 42 runs. India reached 364 in 1st innings but England went past the score with 391 runs, with an amazing 180-run knock by English skipper Joe Root.

However, in spite of a 27-run lead, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah’s incredible knocks of 56* and 34* respectively towards the end of the 2nd innings including 89-run stand enabled Indian to set up a 272-run target for England.

Later, Indian pacers crushed the England batting, with Mohammed Siraj bagging a 4-wicket haul and Ishant Sharma picking 3 wickets.
