Hardik Pandya’s selection in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup was the biggest talking point in India’s disastrous campaign in the UAE.

Pandya’s ability to hold the discipline with his bowling and power-hitting with his bat makes the selectors vouch for his services. He becomes the likeliest choice to feature in any playing XI of a cricket team.

Hardik Pandya’s fitness was a big talking point for India in T20 World Cup

And so was the case for the Indian team. The national selectors had kept him in the squad while citing that he will be bowling his full quota of overs in the mega event.

However, during the IPL 2021 in the UAE, it was clearly visible that the all-rounder wasn’t fit to bowl as he didn’t bowl a single over for Mumbai Indians in the tournament.

Pandya’s batting numbers also did not justify his selection in the Indian team. The stylish player could manage just 127 runs from 12 matches at an average of 14.11.

Pandya scored 69 runs in three innings and also got back to bowling in the tournament.

Hardik Pandya will have to work on his fitness and body: Salman Butt

Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt is of the opinion that nothing has ended for India’s stylish all-rounder, who needs to work on his fitness.

Don’t think Hardik Pandya is out of the scheme of things. It is not a case of him having to go back and do the grind of domestic cricket all over again. We saw that, in spite of him not being fit, he was carried along (during the T20 World Cup). But yes, he will have to work on his fitness and his body,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.

Coming back to India from the T20 World Cup, fresh rumours surrounded Pandya that he bought two watches worth Rs 5 crore. Both of them were confiscated by the customs duty department because of enough lack of evidence.

The all-rounder was quick to issue a clarification and said that he was cooperating with the customs department and also mentioned that there was only one watch, whose price is 1.5 crore.
