In a double delight for Team India, the star opening batters Abhishek Sharma and Smriti Mandhana have bagged the ICC Player of the Month awards for September 2025.
Abhishek Sharma beat the fellow teammate Kuldeep Yadav and Zimbabwe player Brian Bennet to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for September 2025. On the other hand, Smriti Mandhana beat Pakistani Sidra Ameen and South African Tazmin Brits to bag the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for September 2025.
Smriti Mandhana and Abhishek Sharma dominated in September
The Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma showed the world that he can dominate on the big stage by delivering exceptional performances for India in the Asia Cup 2025.
Abhishek set the stage on fire in the Asia Cup 2025, and his performances helped India win the tournament. The left-handed batter started his dominance from the first game itself as he played a quickfire knock of 30 runs against the UAE, and in the second game against Pakistan, he blasted 31 runs while slamming 38 runs against Oman to finish the group stage.
The World No.1 T20I batter stepped up his game in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four round and slammed excellent 74, 75, and 61 to take India to the final. Overall, he scored 314 runs at an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200.00.
Talking about another left-hander, Smriti Mandhana was in top form in September in the lead-up to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Her best was seen in the three-match series against the Aussies, where she smashed two centuries to bag the Player of the Series award.
Overall, in four ODI matches in September 2025, Smriti Mandhana hit 308 runs at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68.

In an official statement released by ICC, Abhishek Sharma expressed his delight over bagging an ICC award and thanked the team management for providing him a good backing.
“It feels great to win this ICC award and I am happy that it has come for some important matches that I could help win," he said.
“I am proud to be part of a team that can pull off victories from the most difficult of situations. Our recent track record in T20Is reflects our outstanding team culture and positive mindset.

The India vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, meanwhile, said that she was honoured to get the ICC award and added that it acts as a motivation for her. She said:
“I am truly honoured to receive the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2025. A recognition like this pushes me to keep growing and evolving as a player. The recognition also reflects the support, trust, and effort we put in together collectively as a team.
“My aim has always been to deliver my best and win matches for the team. I am looking forward to making the most out of the opportunities that result in memorable victories for India in the matches ahead.”
