The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 at the Adelaide Oval was full of drama, but it was the fiery exchange between the Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and Australian batter Travis Head that took the spotlight when the two teams were in action in Adelaide.
After Travis Head played a magnificent knock of 140 runs on Day 2 of the Day-Night Test, Mohammed Siraj gave the Australian batter an unforgettable fiery send-off, which has now become a hot topic to discuss among the cricket fraternity across the world.
Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj's fiery exchange dominates headlines
As Head walked off the field, Siraj gestured toward the dressing room in a clear sign of triumph, sparking a war of words between them. While Travis Head claimed he only said “well bowled” in his defense, Siraj accused the Australian batter of lying to the media.
On the morning of Day 3, the Indian pacer fired back, accusing Head of lying, and made it clear that the Aussie star said something that provoked him for a fiery send-off.
Amidst the intense debate over the matter, the former India spinner and commentator Harbhajan Singh, who is known for his humor and sharp wit, couldn’t resist offering a playful take on the entire row, bringing some lightness to the incident.
After hearing Mohammed Siraj's side of the story, Harbhajan Singh couldn't help but make a playful remark about Siraj’s recent appointment as deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Telangana.
The Adelaide incident led Harbhajan to joke that the next time Siraj is in Hyderabad, he should "arrest" Travis Head, as the Australian batter will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025.

He jokingly referred to Siraj’s recent appointment as the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Telangana, which had already sparked several memes on social media, with the Indian bowler’s photo as DSP often used in humorous contexts.
Well, Harbhajan Singh shared the laugh with Mohammed Siraj during a Star Sports broadcast, jokingly urging Siraj to dismiss Head on the very first ball next time.
Harbhajan Singh said in Star Sports video: “DSP sahab, jab ye dobara Hyderabad aaye na to isko zara giraftar kar lena. Khelne to ayega na waha pe. Ye to mazak ki baat thi but I wish you guys all the best. Travis Head ko is baar pehli ball pe, danda. (DSP sir, the next time he (Head) comes to Hyderabad, arrest him. He will come to play IPL in Hyderabad. I am just kidding but wish you guys all the best. This time, knock over Travis Head's stump on first ball.”

I was enjoying bowling to Head: Mohammed Siraj
Before Harbhajan’s witty remark, Siraj told him: “I was enjoying bowling to him (Head), it was a good battle. He batted well. At the end of the day, as a bowler when he hits you for six of your good ball, something stirs in the blood, inside you (smiles) – the passion rises. I was just celebrating but his abuse can be seen on television.
If you see, at the start I didn’t say a word. Later, at the press conference, he said wrong things – he claimed he said “well bowled” to me; but that’s a lie. There was no ‘well bowled’ that I could see.”
