Duleep Trophy 2024 is all set to commence on September 5 and a total of 4 teams are set to battle for the title this season.

The schedule for the first phase has been released by BCCI where all teams will face each other in a round-robin format.

Team A will be led by Shubman Gill and they will play a total of three games in the first round or league stage. In their opening game of the Duleep Trophy 2024, Team A will face Team B from September 5 onwards. The venue of the match is Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

In their second match, Shubman Gill & Co. will face Shreyas Iyer-led Team D. The match begins on September 12 at the same stadium. In their final match of the first round, Team A will clash with Team C on September 19.

Meanwhile, BCCI has named teams differently this time. In the previous seasons, teams were named based on Zones like East Zone, West Zone, Central Zone, and South Zone. However, in the Duleep Trophy 2024, teams have been named A, B, C, and D.

Duleep Trophy 2024 commences the domestic season of red-ball or First Class Cricket in India. All the games are four days long and one team in the end lifts the trophy. If we analyze the squad of Team A, they have a strong top order with the likes of national players like Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, and Mayank Agarwal. Although Agarwal is not a regular member on the national side now, he has a lot of experience in the Test format.

In the middle-order, Team A has two powerful members Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag. Both of them grabbed a lot of limelight in IPL 2024 and for the national team. KL Rahul is a powerful and experienced wicketkeeper for the side who is often dubbed as a specialist for longer formats like Tests and ODIs.

Team A also has Kuldeep Yadav, the most crucial spinner for Team India at the moment. However, they lack depth in the pace department with only Avesh Khan and Prasidh Krishna. Both have less experience on the national side so far and have been in or out of the team regularly.
