Off-spinner Tanush Kotian surprised middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer with a short-pitched delivery in the clash between India A and India D. The Shreyas Iyer-led team is facing India A on the final day at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Sunday, September 15.
Opposition pacers continue to use short-pitched deliveries against Shreyas Iyer, and now spinners are employing the same tactic. Tanush Kotian tested Iyer with a short-pitched delivery during the ongoing match, and the video has gone viral across social media platforms on the internet.

The incident took place on the fourth delivery of 44th over in the India D's second innings. Spinner Tanush Kotian bowled a length ball outside off to Shreyas Iyer, but it unexpectedly exploded off the pitch. Iyer was beaten on the top edge as the ball went past the keeper's head for four byes.

Shreyas came to the crease with India D at 105/3 while chasing a massive target of 488 runs. The batter appeared to be in good touch and formed a 53-run partnership with Ricky Bhui. However, Iyer ended up throwing his wicket after scoring 41 runs off 54 deliveries with the help of eight boundaries.
The right-handed batter has had a disappointing Duleep Trophy 2024. He has scored just one half-century in four innings. Iyer was dismissed for a seven-ball duck in the first innings of the ongoing match. He dismissed opener Mayank Agarwal on the very first delivery he bowled in the tournament.
Pratham Singh And Tilak Varma Smashed Centuries In 2nd Innings
India A posted 290 runs in their first innings with half-centuries from Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian. In response, India D struggled and were bowled out for 183. Khaleel Ahmed and Aaqib Khan took three wickets each as the Mayank Agarwal-led team took a crucial 107-run first-innings lead.
India A declared their second innings at 380/3 and set a target of 488 for India D. Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh added a 115-run opening stand. Agarwal scored 56 before being dismissed by Iyer. Pratham scored 122 off 189 balls, while Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 111 runs off 193 balls.
Shreyas Iyer Wouldn't Have Been In The Duleep Trophy - Basit Ali
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali said that Shreyas Iyer wouldn't have been included in the Duleep Trophy if he were an Indian selector. Basit added that Iyer is not showing proper respect for the game.
"I'm sorry to Indians who like him, but if I was India's selector, Iyer wouldn't have been in the Duleep Trophy at all. He's not respecting the game," Basit Ali said.
Shreyas faced a mix of setbacks and successes in 2024. He was left out of BCCI contracts due to doubts about his availability for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy campaign. Shreyas made a comeback in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy win. He also led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise to their third IPL title.
