ECB Announces Schedule For England Men's And Women's Tour To Pakistan

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Friday, announced the finalized schedule of England’s men and women tour to Pakistan in October for white-ball matches. This will be the first instance of an England team, men or women, touring Pakistan since 2005-06.

They will arrive in Islamabad on October 9. Both the men’s and women’s T20Is will take place on October 13 and 14, as doubleheaders, at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Initially, the matches were slated for October 14 and 15 at the National Stadium in Karachi, but the venue had been changed due to “operational and logistical reasons”.

Eoin Morgan’s troop, the 2019 ODI World Champions, will then fly to Dubai on October 15 for the T20 World Cup. However, the women’s outfit will stay back and as they will take on the hosts in a 3-match ODI series on October 17,19 and 21.

Wasim Khan, PCB Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to welcome both the England men’s team for what will be their first tour to Pakistan since 2005, and the England women’s team, who will be touring Pakistan for the first time.

“Both are additional tours with England men’s side scheduled to return to Pakistan in the last quarter of 2022 for white-ball and ICC World Test Championship fixtures.”

In July this year, England whitewashed Babar Azam’s side in a 3-ODI series, with a second-string squad as the original squad was forced into quarantine after a covid-19 outbreak in the camp. The Three Lions then also won the T20I series by a 2-1 scoreline.
