According to Provisional managing director Andrew Strauss, the ECB is preparing to begin a high-performance assessment of English cricket to make the goal of making the England men’s side “the greatest in the world in all formats.”

Strauss laid out the ideas for the review in Barbados, where the second Test is set to begin on Wednesday. The review’s conclusions are expected to be published in September, to perhaps rearrange view to perhaps rearranging the English schedule from 2023.

“The concept thus far is that it is all about red-ball cricket and that it is all about the home sport,” Strauss said, responding to the Take a look at staff’s so-called “reset.” However, the best way we’re tackling it, and I believe the only way you can tackle these issues, is to start with the most basic question: what is the scope of our desire for sport in this country?

“And I imagine we’re adamant about being among the top in the world in all codecs.” I believe that if the store window is functioning well, the knock-on effects are huge and that as a sport, we must unite behind that goal.

Andrew Strauss discussed various aspects of cricket:

The audit will be led by an independent organization that will complete the first two rounds of the evaluation before presenting their suggestions to the ECB board of directors and county chairs.

Strauss stated, “We need to look at how the game is evolving.” “As we all know, the emergence of white-ball and T20 cricket has been extremely dynamic and occurred very swiftly. So we need to figure out how that affects our game and, on the one hand, how we can leverage it while still protecting the game’s relevance and value in our country. Then we’ll need to undertake a lot of independent analysis to figure out what’s working and what isn’t right now based on data from the game. As a result, a significant amount of consultation is required.”

The assessment is only one of many major changes likely at the ECB in the following months, with several senior management roles only occupied temporarily temporary basis. In addition to the head coach opening, applications for the full-time men’s team managing director position opened on Monday (which Strauss is currently performing).
