Emirates Cricket Board writes an email to Pakistan: The long India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match drama is finally coming to an end. As Pakistan previously said, that they would boycott the game against India to showcase soldirarity Bangladesh after they were removed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following their stance of not travelling to India citing security reasons.

The ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), along with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), had an emergency meeting discussion over the issue and also demanded certain requests to the ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja, who has been acting as the moderator between both the apex body and PCB. As things stand after the meeting, PCB is set to reconsider its decision.

Emirates Cricket Board gives a strong message to Pakistan

Previously, Sri Lanka Cricket also wrote a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requesting them to reconsider their decision not to play against India in the T20 World Cup, as it might incur a loss for the co-hosts, as the India vs Pakistan match is scheduled to take place on 15th February, at the R Premedasa Stadium, Colombo.

Now, the United Arab Emirates Cricket Board has also written a letter to Pakistan seeking them to reconsider their long-standing stance of the boycott. The letter to PCB read (as quoted by RevSportz), “The Emirates Cricket Board has long-term rapport with Pakistan and in the past we have accommodated Pakistan by giving them our venues and organised their cricket.”

Emirates Cricket Board added: “Pakistan’s latest decision of not playing the WCT20 match against India will hurt the game and most member countries, especially the Associates will suffer financially. As a family member we request the PCB to reconsider their decision and find an acceptable solution.”

Mubashshir Usmani is acting as a mediator

Mubashshir Usmani, the Emirates Cricket Board's general secretary, is also acting as a mediator, after ICC's deputy chair, Imran Khawaja, who attended yesterday's meeting. For a decade, the UAE served as Pakistan's home away from home because they were unable to play matches in their own country after the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team's bus in Lahore. Usmani is also an Associate Member Director at the ICC.

Pakistan has not found any support from other council members and has found them under deep water. Now, Pakistan has demanded certain things to ICC in order to play the game against India. They have asked to resume the India vs Pakistan bilateral series, which was last played in India back in 2013. PCB also asked for an increase in the funds that they receive from the annual ICC revenue.

India vs Pakistan is a blockbuster clash

India vs Pakistan generates double the revenue among the other ICC matches. Over the years, ICC and the hosts of the competitions have generated a lot of revenues from broadcasting the gam, gate sales, ticket sales, and sponsorships as well.

If the India vs Pakistan match does not happen, the ICC will have to bear a huge loss. Pakistan will also be sanctioned as their funding might be stopped, and docking of World Test Championship points might also take place.
