The 30-year-old Australia National Cricket Team explosive opening batsman Travis Head was appointed as the T20I skipper of the Aussies after original captain Mitchell Marsh got ruled out of the second T20I against England National Cricket Team.

The second T20I of the three-match series between England and Australia got underway on Friday, September 13, at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Australia entered the match with a 1-0 lead as they had won the first match by 28 runs at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. Head, who is currently the No.1 ranked batter in the ICC Rankings, won the Player of the Match award in the first game for his 59 runs knock off just 23 balls.

Meanwhile, Travis Head walked out for the toss in the second T20I and revealed that Mitchell Marsh was unwell. Hence, he was been handed the leadership duties. Notably, he became the 13th player to lead Australia in T20I cricket.

Marsh was replaced by Jake Fraser-McGurk in the playing XI. Other than this, Josh Hazlewood was rested while Xavier Bartlett sustained a side injury in the first T20I and got ruled out. Aaron Hardie and Cooper Connolly came in as replacements for the above-mentioned players.

Mitch is slightly unwell - Travis Head

Speaking at the toss, Travis Head, who was captaining Australia for the first time, said that they want to play with intent against the Three Lions. Travis Head stated:

"Mitch is slightly unwell, so this change. We've made three changes for us today. We want to play with intent, we've some amazing hitters in the middle, some big boys in the middle and they're raring to go."

Meanwhile, England made just one change to their playing XI by bringing in Brydon Carse for Jofra Archer, who was rested for the crucial match. Speaking at the toss, Phil Salt said that they need to bat well and build good partnerships.

Notably, Phil Salt has been leading the England National Cricket Team in the T20I series because Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the matches due to a right calf injury.

Also, the star batter and skipper is doubtful for the upcoming ODI series against the Aussies and if he misses out again, Harry Brook is likely to lead England National Cricket Team against Australia National Cricket Team.

"We will have a bowl, looks like a bowl first wicket, hopefully we'll do well. Need to put up partnerships, probably lost too many wickets in the last game. We have high expectations as professionals, a number of guys are missing out, Jofra Archer misses out, Brydon Carse is back in," Phil Salt said.
