Australia have suffered a blow during the ongoing T20I series against England, with right-arm speedster Xavier Bartlett ruled out.

Left-arm seamer Ben Dwarshuis has been added to the squad for the remainder of the series, which is set to be played in Manchester on Sunday, September 15.

Xavier Bartlett suffered a side strain during the series opener. The right-arm pacer failed to complete his spell in the first T20I at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton.

Australia lost the second T20I by three wickets in Cardiff on September 13. The three-match series between England and Australia is 1-1.

Ben Dwarshuis Replaces Xavier Bartlett For Remainder Of T20I Series

Xavier Bartlett is the third Australian fast bowler to be sidelined during the United Kingdom tour this month, following Nathan Ellis and Riley Meredith.

Ellis injured his hamstring during The Hundred 2024 season, while Meredith suffered side soreness following the first T20I match against Scotland.

Spencer Johnson was also withdrawn from Australia's T20 squad before the tour due to a side strain. Josh Hazlewood missed the Scotland leg because of a minor calf strain.

Ben Dwarshuis will join the Australia squad for the third and final T20 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday.

Ben Dwarshuis Last Played For Australia In December 2023

Xavier Bartlett played the first two T20Is in the previous series against Scotland. The fast bowler registered figures of 4-0-23-2 and 3-0-20-1 in Australia’s clean sweep win 3-0.

Bartlett dismissed Jordan Cox before leaving the field, with Cameron Green completing the over in the Southampton match.

Ben Dwarshuis made his international debut in April 2022 in Lahore but went wicketless, conceding 42 runs in three overs.

He took two wickets for 30 runs in four overs during his last T20I match. He played for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, where he claimed four wickets in two matches.

Mitchell Starc To Join Australia Squad For ODI Series Against England

Australia could secure their first bilateral men's T20 series victory over England since 2014 if they win the final T20 match.

Both teams will be aiming to give their best to secure the series victory. Notably, Mitchell Marsh missed the last match, and Travis Head led the team during the second T20I.

Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc will return to bolster Australia's pace attack for the five-match ODI series, starting on Thursday at Trent Bridge.

Starc has been rested for the six T20 matches in the UK. Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, and Alex Carey will also join the ODI squad.
