England’s spin bowling consultant, Saqlain Mushtaq on Monday (July 16) lauded his team’s clinical show as they defeated India by 86 runs at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 14 (Saturday).

As a result, the hosts England crawled back to level the three-match One-day International series one each.

Meanwhile, batting first, England posted 322 runs following a decent opening stand, Moreover, Joe Root did the main damage proving the fact the class is permanent while registering a superb century.

Root batted with such great authority dominating the proceedings with the bat. The English batsmen employed a better tactic to tackle promising spinner Kuldeep Yadav and succeeded against him to some extent.

English skipper Eoin Morgan also played a handy knock of 53 runs to guide England to a massive score.

However, it was the cameo of David Willey (50* of 31) that took England over the 300-run mark.

In reply, India lost wickets at regular intervals which cost them the match. The set batsmen failed to bat till the end which hurt India’s case. Suresh Raina (46) and Virat Kohli (45) were among the runs for the visitors.

The bowlers did an excellent job to contain a star-studded batting unit. Liam Plunkett topped the wickets chart with four scalps while Willey and leg-spinner Adil Rashid returned with two wickets each.

Saqlain lauds his team’s effort:

Former Pakistan cricketer, Saqlian hailed English team as they came from behind to put up a good show. The bowlers went in search of leather in the first game as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli dominated them in nutshell.
