England pacer, James Anderson spoke after seeing his old picture with young Gus Atkinson during the West Indies series. After seeing the photo, the 41-year-old said that is the problem of being old as new things pop up every day.

A recent video that went viral on social showed that James Anderson was present at BBC Sport for a podcast. The fellow commentator Michael Vaughan asked Anderson showing him a picture if he could remember the young boy sitting next to him.

Following the English pacer accepted that he was failing to recall the picture. That’s when the interviewers revealed that the young guy in the picture was Gus Atkinson along with Freddie Flintoff.

Vaughan asked, “Jimmy, in 2007, I have got a picture to show you on the screen, do you remember this picture?” to which James Anderson, “I don’t remember that specific picture, but I do remember being in the West Indies.”

“Yeah, that was the World Cup. That’s obviously Freddie Flintoff on the left. Do you know who the young chap is in the middle?,” Vaughan replied to the English pacer.

“That’s the problem with getting old, isn’t it? When things like that keep popping up,” James Anderson added.

James Anderson, 41 years old is considered one of the most experienced English pacers currently. Anderson made his Test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe. Following this he has played 183 matches in long format cricket and picked up massive 690 wickets.

25-year-old, Gus Atkinson made his international debut in the 20-over format against New Zealand in 2023. Atkinson just played one match and took four wickets with an economy rate of 7.06.

Gus Atkinson is considered as one of the promising youngsters who can excel in international cricket if given a chance. For which, he has been included in the upcoming ODI World Cup squad of England after he gained the attention of the team selectors.

England will take on New Zealand in the third T20I match of the three-game series on Sunday (September 3rd) at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
