The 34-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team player Rassie van der Dussen showcased an unreal effort at the boundary ropes to save a six for his team in the 20th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against England National Cricket Team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, October 21.

Rassie van der Dussen was brilliant with the bat against the Three Lions and he scored 60 runs off 61 balls, with 8 fours, and was also involved in a massive 121-run partnership with Reeza Hendricks.

After his incredible batting performance, Rassie van der Dussen showcased an equally impressive performance on the field in the second innings of the match.

The highlight of his fielding performance was the unbelievable save at the boundary ropes that came in the 22nd over of the innings. England tailender Mark Wood who played an attacking brand of cricket smashed the Proteas bowlers all over the park and emerged as the top run-getter for the side.

On the fifth ball of the 22nd over, he once again decided to go for a six over the long-off. However, he wasn’t able to clear the fence due to Rassie van der Dussen’s exceptional effort. To stop the ball, Rassie jumped up, got a hand to it and the ball stuck in his hand. He then threw it back in time to stop the boundary

Speaking after the match, South Africa captain Aiden Markram said that they delivered a fantastic all-round performance on the back of their shocking defeat against the Netherlands. He elaborated:

“Fantastic all-round performance. Was a great effort. We know England like chasing. We were comfortable batting first. Thankfully, our pacers were not roasted bowling first under the sun.”

“Really great knock from Reeza. He has been around for a long time. That helped. He has been practising every day. Got rewarded today. We have Miller at 6 and Klaasen at 5. That’s a destructible pair.

“[on Jansen] Fantastic to see that he showcased his ability on a global stage like this. Jansen is having a great time. He takes a pride in his batting. He has been practicing a lot. Had a great partnership with Klaasen. That loss hurt us. Great way to bounce back.”

Defending the target of 400 in the match, South Africa dominated with the ball and kept picking wickets at regular intervals to bowl out England for 170 and win the match by 229 runs.
